Heros of The Storm: is it a failure?

I recently started playing Heros of The Storm, you know Blizzard's answer to the massive popularity of other MOBA games such League of Legends and Dota 2. From the first glance I liked it because it features heros that I am familiar with coming from Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo or Overwatch universe.  The gameplay is friendly to start with however it is hard to master which gives enough complexity without overwhelming newcomers. It has 11 maps with different objectives and the gameplay heavly emphasise team work. There are no items to buy and the level gains are shared for the whole team.

Sounds like the perfect ingredient right! Not really

Non of my friends play HOTs

perhaps this is my biggest disappointment. My firends are reluctant to try HOTs or to give it a shot becuase they can not see how it is better than LoL or Dota 2. I have to give it to them that Hots at least on papers did not innovate much to turn the tabel on competition. Or at least it is hard to see it from the outside. Hots came late 2015 where LoL was around since 2009, that made lots of loyal fans turn away any other MOBA and I dont see these players moving to HOTs especially with the game current Esport scene.

HOTs lacks the magic feel to it

I am not referring to the game play or the progression system. I like those very much, my concern is that HOTs feels like different chops have been put together with out much coherence. HOTs simply lack the elegence to distinct itself from other Blizzard games let alone other MOBAs.

Huge potential!

I don't thin HOTs is a failure by any mean. It is a great game and I would recommend it to anyone. You dont have to quit LOL or Dota 2 to plat HOTs, you can play them all because they are free. I think alot of gamers disregard HOTs because they feel content with what they have. Trust me, if you like MOBAs and you like to try something fresh then HOTs is the way to go.
